As a legal recruiter, I pride myself on earning the trust and confidence of my clients, both individual lawyers and legal employers. Through careful listening, I help to clarify their objectives, develop a creative strategy for their search and guide their process to the desired outcome: a successful, long-lasting placement. As a practicing lawyer at Arnold & Porter in Washington, D.C., and later as a partner at Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg in Chicago, I also fostered relationships by providing general corporate counseling, negotiating mergers and guiding public companies with regard to their obligations under the federal securities laws. Each of these representations required careful and empathetic listening skills, as well as flexibility, intelligence and technical savvy. At my firms, I was always an informal “matchmaker” of sorts: helping others forge stronger ties and alliances to the firm by making valuable contributions to the recruiting, training and mentoring efforts. Since joining ZCG in 1999, I have enjoyed the opportunity to bring lawyers together with legal employers and the pleasure of working with other recruitment professionals who adhere to the highest standards of excellence, honesty and integrity.
